135–139 Rundle Mall
135–139 Rundle Mall, Adelaide SA 5000
Heritage-listed 1879 building, home to Rebel Sport's 2,650 sqm flagship rCX concept store — the largest Rebel store in Australia.

Property Overview
135–139 Rundle Mall is a heritage-listed building constructed in 1879 by architect Rowland Rees for prominent Adelaide butcher William Kither. The elaborate Victorian commercial facade — featuring Corinthian pilasters, decorative pediments and squared hammered sandstone — is one of the most significant heritage frontages on Rundle Mall.
The building is home to Rebel Sport's flagship rCX (Rebel Customer Experience) concept store, which opened in April 2022 following an 18-month heritage renovation that merged five separate retail spaces into a single 2,650 sqm store across three levels. It is the largest Rebel store in Australia.
The store features a custom-built rooftop basketball court, an interactive football pitch with AI goalkeeper, a sneaker elevator, in-store gaming setups and product customisation kiosks — creating one of the most immersive sporting retail experiences in the country. The store has delivered double-digit growth across every performance metric since opening.
Notable heritage: In 1882, the South Australian Electric Light Company introduced Adelaide's first commercial electric lighting at this building — drawing crowds of onlookers to witness the “brilliant and steady light.”
